Easter at Our House

Let me first say, yes, it’s now April 25th, long past the Easter holiday, but I would still like to share what I learned about chocolate Easter bunnies, jelly beans and just plain delicious chocolates this year.  My kids can eat just about everything…from See’s Candies. How did I not know this?  Okay, See’s Candies IS indeed an expensive way to fill your kids’ Easter baskets with yummy, tooth-decaying goodness, but to see the looks on my kids’ faces when they found their baskets full of See’s and not just Jelly Bellies, Starburst, Skittles and M&Ms was sooooo worth it.  They were ecstatic.

When I initially looked up See’s website, I didn’t believe their nutritional claim that all of their candies were gluten-free with the exception of, I think, 4 items.  I thought they must have that backwards.  I called them expecting to point out an obvious mistake they must have made on their website.  I think I actually jumped up and down with delight when the lady on the other end of the phone assured me that all of their candies were indeed gluten-free with the exception of the 4 items that were not actually made by them, but by another manufacturer. (Avoid anything with added candy decor like flowers or other designs.)

The true test: my kids stayed doped up on sugar for several days with no gluten side-effects.  Three cheers for See’s!

Now, back to an attempt at healthy eating. 🙂
